Our Vision
Our Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals Statement
Adopted by the Voters Assembly on July 22, 2018.

Our Mission (Ascension’s purpose):
Becoming Caring Servants who Extend Life in Christ to Diverse People.
Our Vision (Ascension’s preferred future – what we hope to be under God’s guidance and blessing.):
Diverse, caring servants of Jesus Christ, joyfully following His Word and sharing His love with others.
Our Values (What Ascension holds as dear and important.):
Diversity –
God loves everyone – no exceptions!
Caring –
Loving, helpful, listeners, open and receptive
Servanthood –
Humble, humility, subordinate, leadership that does not diminish others.
“And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone,
able to teach, not resentful.” II Timothy 2:24
Servants of Jesus Christ –
Open to the leading of His Holy Spirit. Mark 10.35-45.
Joy –
Nothing done out of duty, nothing done because it is a responsibility.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.” James 1:2
“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see
him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” I Peter
1:8-9
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy
set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right
hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12.2
Following His Word –
Studying and putting His Word into practice; students of the teachings of
Jesus Christ and His Apostles; committed to a Lutheran understanding of that
Word.
Sharing His love with others –
We have experienced God’s love and must share that love with
others. 2 Corinthians 5.17-21.
